Mom Advice, Please!

Ok, I hope I’m not lacking in discretion by asking this. In other words, I’m a little scared that this might be considered “T.M.I” to some of you, but I’m starting to get concerned because we have all been dealing with tummy issues since we’ve moved here. It’s just a general feeling of queasiness and ummm…other stuff. ;) At first, I thought maybe it was just a virus, but it has been going on for almost a month now and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

SO.

The reason I’m putting this out there for the world to read is because I’m trying to decide if this is normal or if I need to make a mass doctor’s appointment? Anyway, I know that many of you have moved long distance and I wonder if you’ve dealt with something similar? I’ve thought that possibly it has something to do with the change in water and our bodies just taking the time to adjust, but I don’t know. If that has been your experience, please let me know and if so, how long did it go on / what did you do to stop it? I figure we are all Moms here and there isn’t much that a group of us hasn’t dealt with, right?

However, if you happen to fall into the T.M.I. category, after I plead for grace, let’s just chat about the weather. ;)

Could it be the water??? It took me a while to adjust to the water in my college town. One friend of mine never did adjust and would buy bottled water.
I hope you figure something out soon!

Gayle, if I were you, I’d get online and research Mississippi’s water quality. I have an inkling that that’s what your problem is. I’m concerned about bacteria in the water that’s affecting you and your family. And the next thing I’d do is research water filtration systems.

I hope this helps. It’s really the only wisdom I have. I do dearly hope that you all are feeling better very soon.

Much love to you, dear friend!

Gayle, if you think it’s the water, check into getting a Berkey. Remember that silver canister in my kitchen? It can filter out anything from hard metals to parasites. They are kind of expensive but over six months to a year, depending on how much water bottled water you drink, it pays for itself. I’ll send you a link if you want it.

Did you get my email about camping?

  4. While it could be the water, the stress from moving (which is a significant life stressor) and the unusual locations (exposure to viruses and bacteria) and foods you ate along the way could naturally cause a certain amount of GI upset too.

While you might be wise to check into the water, you might also do well to investigate a good probiotic for the whole Crew. If you don’t have a local health food store and want some advice on how to pick a good one, just email or FB me.

Wow, Michelle! I never even thought about using probiotics as we adjust. Very good advice! I will check into the health food store situation around here (makes me miss Healthy Harveys!).
