The Last Few Days

I have been trying to find the time to blog all week, but every time I think I have a minute, something else is more needful.  So I’m going to do a quick post with pictures that I’ve taken over the last week that I love.  Warning:  This will be pretty random.  ;)

I love me a baby girl in pigtails!  Isa’s hair is just getting long enough to put it up like this and even though she’s not a fan, I think it’s adorable.  My memory is terrible, but one image that holds fast for me is that of Julianna at this age in pigtails.  I need to find a picture of her at this age and post it.

Speaking of Julianna, I went in with her to ballet class last week to get some photos.  Her teacher is wonderful and didn’t even bat an eyelash at me snap, snap, snapping away at all of them.  This is one of her warming up and I absolutely LOVE it.  My girl adores ballet!  I will do another post about that as soon as I have more than 5 minutes.

Before ballet class last Thursday, I worked like a mad-woman to get the whole Crew (sans Ty, who had classes) out the door for a hike at a local park.  It was a perfectly cool and cloudy day and we had a wonderful time!  It deserves it’s own post too, because I snapped 200 pictures, literally.  But here was one that I loved.  Not because of the babies… ok, well, YES!, I love the shot of the babies, but my big happy with this particular picture is that I found a double stroller that is PERFECT for us.  I’ve always like umbrella-type strollers a zillion times better than the big, bulky ones because they live in my trunk, so the least amount of space it occupies, the better.  Well, I found this at Babies R Us a few weeks ago and was able to trade in my single, bulky stroller which gave me a significant discount on an already inexpensive double stroller.  Score!  I like it and so do they:

Here’s a close-up of my smiling little love.  She is just so dern kissy.

And here is another one that makes me want to nibble her cheeks for days:

I took these the other night and fell in love.  Here is Isa “helping” her sissy to get her pacifier.  So sweet!  It’s funny though, because so many times, I catch Isa sucking on the “binky” that is attached to Carah.  I crack up every time!

Alrighty, my 5 minutes are up.  People are hungry and have started to wander away from their schoolwork, so I must go drive the herd back to task…

Pool Time

Today I told the kids that if they hustled with their school we would head to the pool.  I know that the days of swimming are fast coming to an end, so I am hoping to eek out these last few visits before it’s nothing but fires,  s’mores and Pumpkin Spice lattes (although those all sound divine!).

This time, it was just Juju, Andrew, and Isa because The Big Boys got a little too much sun from working outside recently.  It was nice because we had the whole place all to ourselves!

This picture (below) cracks me up because getting this floppy fish to be still long enough to snap a decent photo is practically impossible.  I think he might have actually been asking me here, through his teeth, if I was finished yet.. haha! :D

The weather was just perfect!  It was not at all blistering like it usually is at the end of August in Mississippi.  I don’t know why we’re having this fantastic weather, but I’m sure happy to take it.  Usually, at this point in the summer, everyone is suffering in very high temps and humidity and flat-out wishing for a cold front, but this is perfecto!

After Isa was done splashing around, I bundled her up in this soft and cozy cover-up.  I love this thing!  It’s majorly on sale right now along with the reusable swim diapers that I use, too, if you’re interested.  You can even get the cover-up monogrammed, but I chose not to since I will pass it on to her baby sister once she outgrows it.

It was such a sweet day.  The morning started out with the kids outside on the trampoline, in the fresh air, to do their reading and ended with us enjoying some last remnants of summer.   Good stuff!

Tomorrow, I have a my OB appointment, and I think it’s the glucose test one.  Thankfully, those drinks have much improved over the years, but I’ll still be kind of happy when it’s over.  ;)

Lovely Weekend

Spring is in the air here in Mississippi and I couldn’t be happier!  The doldrums of winter are thankfully tucking themselves away in exchange for blooming tulips and budding trees.  I had my windows wide open all day today as the Crew played themselves out in the warm air for much of the afternoon.  And even though I’m not a fan of “spring forward” on the first morning that  it’s active, I’m always happy when the evening takes it sweet old time before giving way to the stars.

We’ve had a busy weekend.  It started by having  dinner with some out of town family on Friday night that buzzed up from the coast to see us.  We were able to take them over to the house that we will soon be living in to show them around.  We are so excited to move in!  Only 2 more weeks!  Although, I have got to say that apartment living is nowhere near as hard as I thought it might be with a family of our size.  It’s actually been kind of nice.

We woke up at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning to head over to Alabama where we met my sweet, sweet brother and his precious family (they live in South Carolina) to help my mom move into a home that’s closer to her church and work.  We had such a great time together.  After we all worked hard unloading the moving truck, the guys and Nana went to return it and go to Lowes for some odds and ends while all of the girls got busy unpacking the essentials.  It was so sweet to have my neices and my daughter all pitch in to set up the kitchen for their grandmother.  The beauty of it didn’t fall on me unnoticed.  Family.  It’s where it all comes back to in the end.  It’s what matters most despite all of the dysfunction (and believe me, I’ve got some authority here) because God himself gave us to each other.

After a nice dinner at a yummy barbeque place, we were back on the road to Mississippi where we all fell into bed only to be awoken by an alarm clock that was obnoxiously squawking one hour too early.  :)   Bring on the Sunday.  I’m not going to lie, it was tempting to turn on the t.v. and just “watch worship” today, but I just knew I’d regret it later, so I cajoled the reluctant Crew out of their beds and in about 45 minutes we were sitting in the van.

I love our new little church.  I really need to say that.  God has blessed us so much with a caring, wonderful, and loving church family already and it just fills my heart with joy.  We seemed to simply walk right into this place and it felt like home.   So many people are just expecting to help when we move because that’s what they do.  We didn’t even have to ask.  And I love it.  We love it.   God is so good.  We went out to eat at a local Mexican place with some of our friends right after the service and had such a great time of relaxed fellowship on this Sabbath.   Christ’s family.  It’s also what matters most.  Despite the dysfunction (and I’ve got some authority to speak here, too) God gave himself for each of us.  And it’s important to him that we do all that we can to love each other.

Well, now that the Crew is back in and all cleaned up, and I can hardly type two words without hearing “mama!”, I suppose I should wrap up this post.  This week is Spring Break for so many in our area, but not us!  :)   It’s not a big deal though, because we’ll be taking some time off during the move so “it’ll all come out in the wash” as my Grandma used to say.  Haha!!

Hope all of you had a nice weekend, too.

C-c-coooold

Remind me to never complain this summer, k?  :)

It’s Just Me and the Gain and We’re Goin’ In

Hellouuu, Monday. (Think Seinfeld…)

Today, it’s Gayle vs. The Looming Laundry Pile.  With all the thanksgiving, I didn’t do a single load and now we are at a critical situation point.  It’s baaaaaaaaaad.  Real bad.

I absolutely must do a load a day (minimum) to keep up around here, and since it’s been every bit of 4 days, the monster is threatening to overtake us.

If I don’t make it out, I hope each of you have a very Merry Christmas. :D

Alert! Just kidding.. this post is boring

This is going to be the post of nonsensical randomness, k?

1. My poor laptop is struggling. The battery bit it awhile back, with the only option being to leave it plugged in. Well. That wore down the little hole that you insert the charger into and now you have to stand on your head, chant and swallow fire for it to connect properly. So, I ordered an extended charge battery that should be here today… but now she won’t turn on for anything. I’m a little worried that my old buddy may need a laptop hospital. ~sigh~ (BTW, I’m on the dinosaur desktop… you know, the kind where the monitor looks like a 1970′s tv?) :D

2. I am reading some wonderful books, lately, and I keep thinking “everyone should read these” at the turn of each page. The first one, which I’ve read before and recommended on The Westie Crew, is No Other Gods by Kelly Minter. Girls, I’m not kidding, this book is SO good when it comes to weeding out the things that we put before God. She explains idolatry so well and talks of her own journey throughout. I can’t say enough about it. And it’s only $6 on Amazon.

The next one that I’m loving is Susan Hunt’s Your Home, A Place of Grace. It is so rich and I am learning a wealth of truth regarding God’s covenantal call on families. It’s not necessarily all practicality, as much as it’s just knitting God’s Holy Word together to show me things that I’ve never really heard before. I’ll probably blog more on it later (when my laptop is back on her feet).

3. We turned the heat on for the first time this morning and I can’t tell you how this thrills my soul. ha-ha! I always miss my Northern roots around this time of year because I’m usually ready for the cold. It got up to 90* here last week which just felt wrong.  Now, we’re talking, though. I think it actually got down to almost freezing last night and it’s no higher than mid-70′s during the day.  That’s more like it.

We are planning the lowest of low-key weekends around here. Our November is going to be slammed, so we are enjoying the calm before the storm. ;) What’s on your agenda?
